Landesa has conducted research and worked with Indonesian government actors beginning in the 1980s, with our heaviest involvement during the early 2000s, when we implemented a three-year USAID grant to advise the Land Reform Directorate of BPN on laws and regulations related to land and property rights. In 2019, Landesa conducted research that culminated in a report identifying shortcomings in, and recommending adjustments to, the government’s current agrarian reform program. Our current engagement with the Vice Minister of ATR/BPN focuses on mangroves and gender issues in coastal areas in the lead up to the Wakatobi Summit and beyond.
