ID This executive summary is prepared based on two assessment reports on Mangrove Social, Economy and Ecology Assessment and Tenurial System Rapid Assessment in Nusantara Capital City, carried out by Landesa Indonesia in collaboration with Blue Forest (Yayasan Hutan Biru) and Customary Law Study Center Djojodigoeno of Faculty of Law of Gajah Mada University.
This report provides an in-depth study on five key issues in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN), namely: (i) the bundle of rights, (ii) land tenure administration, (iii) disparities in land tenure, (iv) conflict over natural resources, and (v) traditional practices of environmental conservation in coastal areas within protected and cultivation areas. The study focuses on mangrove areas, which in the IKN region cover a total of 11,668 hectares. Five villages across two sub-districts in IKN were selected as study locations: Teluk Dalam Village, Muara Jawa Tengah Village, and Muara Jawa Ilir Village in Muara Jawa Sub-district; and Mentawir Village and Pemaluan Village in Sepaku Sub-district.
